How to write about science?

#science #appearance #media #communication

The workshop is based on the assumption that science has become an important part of modern society and that many journalists are interested in scientific topics. However, there is often a lack of knowledge about how science works, what methods scientists use to discover new things, and how they publish their findings.

What will you learn?

The goal of this workshop is to introduce you to the principles of good reporting on scientific discoveries and to give you an understanding of how these discoveries are made in science today. The workshop will provide you with an introduction to important aspects of science journalism, including distinguishing between scientifically validated information and pseudoscience, adopting elements characteristic of good reporting, and applying acquired knowledge to report on current scientific discoveries.

Who is this training for?

The workshop is designed for students of journalism, PR and communication who want to learn more about the subject, journalists, editors, science writers and science bloggers.

Let’s do the tweets!

Social media is a powerful tool for communicating science research. But what’s the best way to use it?

The workshop invitation arrived just when I was reflecting on my presentation and communication skills. It made me aware of some of my mistakes beforehand. The workshop motivated me to become active on social networks so I posted a work highlight on LinkedIn, which yielded impressive results in terms of increased engagement. I’m considering expanding to Twitter as well. Overall, the workshop helped me tremendously with media communication and social networking.
